Terms of Service

Last Updated: August 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and VidDub. They apply when you install or use the VidDub browser extension, the VidDub website, or any related service (together, the "Service"). If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.

1. Beta Status

VidDub is in beta. Features, supported sites, usage limits and stored data may change, be reduced, or be removed, and the Service may be unavailable or reset without advance notice. Please do not treat VidDub as the only copy of anything you would be unhappy to lose.

2. Your Account

Some features require an account. Keep your sign-in credentials secure; you are responsible for activity that happens under your account. We may suspend or restrict access if these Terms are breached, if we reasonably suspect abuse, or if there is a security risk to you or to the Service.

You may delete your account at any time from viddub.app/account/delete. Some records may be kept where the law requires it, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. What VidDub Does, and What It Cannot Promise

VidDub extracts or generates subtitles, translates them, synthesises speech, and plays that speech over the video you are watching, with related caching. Subtitles, translations and synthesised speech are produced by automated systems. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or degraded by the quality of the source audio, and they may misrepresent what was actually said.

Do not rely on VidDub output where accuracy matters — including medical, legal, financial, educational assessment or safety-critical contexts. The providers, models and voices behind these features may change or become unavailable.

4. Your Content and the Permission You Give Us

"Your Content" means the subtitles, transcripts, audio, media and text you process with the Service, including a subtitle file you attach and audio uploaded for transcription as described in the Privacy Policy.

You keep all rights you have in Your Content. To operate the features you ask for, you grant VidDub a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, process and transform Your Content, and to share it with the speech-recognition, translation, text-to-speech and hosting providers we use. That licence exists only to deliver those features to you and to cache the results as the Privacy Policy describes; it does not let us use Your Content for anything else, and it ends when the content and its cached results are deleted.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary for us to do the above, and that processing Your Content does not infringe anyone else's rights or breach the terms of the site or platform it came from. You are solely responsible for what you choose to process.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, infringing, abusive or deceptive activity;
  • process content you do not have the rights to, or process it in breach of the terms of the site it came from;
  • resell, sublicense, rent, share or otherwise commercially exploit the Service, your account, or the outputs it produces, without our written permission;
  • bypass usage limits, quotas or security controls, or access the Service by automated means beyond ordinary personal use;
  • scrape, crawl, bulk-download, decompile or reverse engineer the Service, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Our Intellectual Property

The Service — its software, design, text and marks — belongs to VidDub or its licensors. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service as intended, and nothing more. No ownership is transferred to you.

7. VidDub Is Currently Free

VidDub is provided free of charge during beta. There are no fees under these Terms, we do not collect payment details, and nothing in the Service will charge you.

We may introduce paid features in future. If we do, we will publish the terms that apply to them — including how any charge is calculated, at what point it is incurred, and how refunds are handled — and we will give you notice before any charge can apply to you. No paid feature will be applied retroactively to use that happened under this version of these Terms.

8. Availability and Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, a particular level of translation or speech quality, or compatibility with every website or video. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, all warranties, conditions and representations not expressly stated here are disclaimed.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VidDub is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) one hundred United States dollars (US$100).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any statutory consumer rights you have. Your statutory rights are not affected.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the extension and, if you wish, deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached, if we reasonably suspect abuse, or if there is a security or legal risk; where it is reasonable to do so, we will give notice first.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination do continue — in particular the licence in section 4 for as long as cached results remain, and sections 6, 8, 9 and 12.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. When a change is material — for example introducing charges, or widening how Your Content is used — we will give notice in the extension or by email and update the "Last Updated" date above, and the change will take effect only after that notice. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not accept it, stop using the Service.

12. Governing Language

These Terms are published in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only and has no legal effect; if a translation and the English text differ, the English text applies.

13. Contact
